Srinagar, Sep 05 (KNO): The recent flood-like situation in Kashmir valley led to increased cloudiness (dryness of taps) in water sources across Srinagar, affecting the supply from several treatment plants. The district administration Srinagar, however, announced a dedicated helpline for public facilitation. As per details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), residents from multiple localities including Parimpora, Bagh-e-Mehtab, Bemina and adjoining areas complained that they have not received drinking water for the past few days. “We are struggling for even a bucket of clean water. Our children are forced to fetch water from neighbours,” said Shabir Ahmad, a resident of Bagh-e-Mehtab. At Parimpora, the locals said water scarcity has added to their daily hardships. “We have to purchase bottled water, which is not affordable for everyone,” said another resident. Meanwhile, an official from PHE Jal Shakti told KNO that some issues caused the disruption but efforts were made to restore the supply. “Due to heavy rains, the flood-like situation in sources had affected the system. However, water supply was restored this evening,” the official said. The administration has appealed people not to panic and to reach out through the helpline numbers — 0194-2477207 and 9419413914 — in case of any water supply issues—(KNO)
